Kids N Kats Fishing Rodeo - April 30th

 The annual Kids N Kats Fishing Rodeo is coming up at Legion State Park on Saturday, April 30th. Youth from ages 4 to 15 are invited to come out to the lake and participate. Prizes and lunch including hot dogs will be available.


The MDWFP will stock the lake with up to 500 catfish prior to the rodeo, providing an opportunity for kids to participate in a great American sport. Friends of Legion will be aiding with the event.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Registration begins at 7:00 am on Saturday morning and will continue til 9:00 am.
  • After opening ceremonies and an announcement of rules and regulations, fishing will begin at 8:00 am
  • Restroom and handwashing facilities will be made available.
  • Rodeo open to kids from 4-15 years of age.
  • All kids must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or responsible adult.
  • All participants must register and receive a wristband.
  • Participants should bring their own fishing tackle and bait (cut weinies or cocktail sausages are excellent)
  • Only one rod per child.

Prizes will be awarded and other activities will be available for the kids as well.

Friends of the Park Meeting

There will be a Friends of Legion State Park Meeting, Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 6PM for anyone who wishes to attend. We would love to see you there.

The Kids N Kats Fishing Rodeo will be held on April 25, 2020 at Legion State Park in Louisville, MS. from 7:30 am-11 am. Rodeo is open to kids 4-16. Registration will begin at 7:30 with fishing rodeo beginning after opening ceremony. All children who participate must be accompanied by an adult. Hot dogs, chips and drink will be provided with dessert. There will also be drawings for prizes. Come out and join us for food, fun and prizes!

Grab your friends, your neighbors,  your kids and Granny and Pops and come out and spend the day with us on Saturday, November 10, 2018 as we enjoy the music and the musicians of our area featuring bluegrass, gospel, country, folk, mountain and Delta Blues.

The day starts with a bang with a 5K Run /Walk at 10:00am. (Registration at 9:00 am – preregistration available – pdf download here on website) Runners head to the finish line as our musicians kick off along the route.

Enjoy the beautiful fall setting of Louisville’s Legion State Park as you stroll from venue to venue on tree covered lanes. Visit the historic Lodge and the recently restored post and beam Davis L. Fair, Jr. Pavillion. Shuttle service will be available throughout the park as well as food vendors.

Bring your guitar, dulcimer, banjo or harp for just maybe a little impromptu “jam session”. There will be a children’s program as well.

The day concludes as we honor our Veterans with a patriotic program and a fireworks display at the amphitheater overlooking Lake Toppasha.

Here’s what you need to know:

COST: Admission is $5 per vehicle

PARKING: Upon entry, a parking pass is provided – allowing exit and re-entry if necessary. Public parking is specified and limited to one location. (5K race participants are allowed to park at the lodge where the race concludes)

FOOD/REFRESHMENTS: A food vendor will be available near the parking area and 1st music venue and also near the Lodge.

RESTROOMS: There are several permanent handicap- accessible restroom facilities throughout the park as well as porta-johns available for the event.

TRANSPORT: The public is encouraged to take their time and enjoy the park. Most venues are on paved lanes and are easy access. For those needing or desiring assistance, golf cart and shuttles will be available throughout the day from the parking area to the various venues.

PETS: NO PETS ALLOWED. Due to the volume of people and the fireworks display, please do not bring your pets.
