Friends Meet to Plan Christmas Party and Discuss 501c Status

Members of the Friends of Legion State Park met on Thursday (Sept 12) to get an update on the organization's 501c3 status and to plan the upcoming Christmas party.

The tax exempt status of the organization had lapsed as it's 501C paperwork had lapsed. Group president Frances Ball has been working with State Senator Giles Ward and members of U.S. Representative Alan Nunnelee's staff to renew Friends tax exemption. Recent information indicates that the group will need to refile its application. The group hopes to achieve this status by year's end.

Plans are also in the works for the Annual Friends of Legion Christmas Party to be held at the Lodge on November 30th. More details as the event approaches.
