Perfect Day For Fishing At Kids & Kats

The weather was perfect on Saturday, May 7, 2016 as a record number 109 kids participated in the Kids-n-Kats Fishing Rodeo held at Legion State Park. Not all were successful as the catfish were not biting very well, but a few reached their limit. The kids were then treated to hot dogs provided by Mike Skipper and drinks and cookies provided by the ladies of Friends of Legion State Park. Kids who participated in the rodeo were given tickets at registration to enter in a drawing for prizes. The prizes were donated by Friends of the Park.

The catfish were provided by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks and the event was assisted by the Friends of Legion State Park. The Legion Kids-n-Kats Rodeo is one of dozens of similar events hosted across the state and is designed to encourage youth to participate in the sport of fishing.
